OUR PROJECTS

As well as providing specialist solutions for offshore wind farms, we also provide services to other supporting infrastructure such as port development and onshore grid connections.

Planning grid reinforcement for Round 3 offshore wind farm

Together with Senergy we have worked with a Round 3 offshore wind developer to identify potential onshore connection routes. The geographical spread of these land-based options means there are up to four marine cable options. To meet the proposed timescales, our environmental appraisal was a high level assessment of key planning and environmental constraints. It was undertaken with reference to best practice, including the Holford Rules and internal guidance by National Grid Electricity Transmission plc and other transmission network operators on routing of transmission lines.

Assessing the health & safety performance of wind turbines

Gamesa is a technological leader in the design, manufacture, installation and maintenance of wind turbines. They appointed WSP to assess the H&S compliance of the physical design of a wind farm tower against UK H&S legislation, including considerations around installation and future inspection and maintenance operations. This included a site visit to a

Spanish manufacturing plant, a review of applicable legislation with interpretation, a gap analysis to review the existing tower against relevant legislative requirements, and a report to summarise the gap analysis and existing level of compliance.

Upgrading port facilities at Teesport, UK

Teesport in the UK commissioned WSP to investigate and improve the geotechnical characteristics of the insitu underlying silt fill and to provide civil and structural engineering design services to control future pavement settlement across the development area. Teesport redevelopment and expansion plans include the demolition of existing structures, ground treatment of the existing operational port areas, and the construction of storage areas, access roadways and other infrastructure.

Stockholm Royal Seaport

One of Europe’s largest urban development projects. We are helping the City of Stockholm to transform the Royal Seaport, Norra Djurgårdsstaden, a former 236 hectare industrial area, into an urban waterfront for sustainable living, business and leisure. We have developed proposals outlining goals for energy, water and waste and are advising on how small scale renewables can be integrated into the plans, as well as providing solutions for landscaping, transport and climate adaptation.
