Enjoy on-campus activities while earning a coveted University of Washington degree in Business Administration with a specialization in accounting or a concentration in one of five areas of study. This baccalaureate program requires a total of 180 credits. Of those credits, 90 lower division are required to enter the program, and 90 upper division are to be completed at UW Bothell.
The Bothell campus is known for its award-winning park- like setting, small class size and dynamic teacher-student interactions. It combines the benefits of a small campus with the resources and prestige of a world-renowned university.
ACCOUNTING OPTION
The two-year Accounting Option prepares you for a career in private, government, nonprofit or public accounting. Graduates serve as internal auditors, managerial accountants, tax examiners, budget analysts and government auditors. Students completing the option are eligible to take the Certified Management Accounting (CMA) exam. To become a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), a minimum of 225 quarter hours or five years of college is required. Admission to the Accounting Option is competitive. CONCENTRATIONS Finance
More than ever, smart and ethical leaders are needed within the field of finance. The Finance Concentration will teach you how financial decisions can affect individual organizations and society as a whole, how firms acquire and allocate funds, how financial markets operate, and the role these markets play in domestic and international economic welfare. Graduates find positions in financial institutions
such as commercial and investment banks, corporate finance departments and consulting firms.
Management The Management Concentration gives you the tools necessary to deal wisely with the complex and rapidly changing environment of today’s business organizations. Areas of study include entrepreneurship, leadership, conflict resolution, human resources, effective supervision and employee relations. Graduates pursue a broad variety of management and administrative careers and often use their degree as a stepping stone into top leadership positions.
Management Information Systems (MIS) Evolving technology demands graduates who understand the relationships between effective management, good business and smart technologies. To acquire the multiple skills necessary to solve problems in technology-based environments, students in the MIS Concentration complete courses in both Business and Computing & Software Systems (CSS). In addition to learning effective business management practices, you will learn how to conduct analyses to develop and improve a variety of applications and systems—from e-commerce storefronts to enterprise solutions.
Marketing
Marketing in a digitally connected world requires knowledge of sophisticated e-commerce systems, customer relationship management applications, global demographic studies and ongoing return-on-investment analysis. The coursework in the Marketing Concentration will teach you to create strategies that will enable businesses to meet their sales goals in a highly competitive environment. Graduates work in areas such as brand management, market research, sales administration and entrepreneurship.
Technology and Innovation Management (TIM) In the uniquely creative and progressive TIM Concentration, you will learn how organizations use technology and new- product development processes to successfully manage change. You will gain an understanding of the relationship between strategic leadership and innovation, as well as the practical and philosophical nature of innovation. Graduates apply their knowledge in industries such as engineering, computing, telecommunications and biotechnology.
