P36: Learning with the NUT
ICT skills courses
ICT skills courses are free to NUT members, £150 to others. They all start on 6 October and run for six sessions from 5-7pm, unless otherwise stated.
The courses at the locations below cover SMART (S) or Promethean (P) interactive whiteboards (IWBs) and Microsoft Publisher, unless stated otherwise. Applicants should have attended a previous ICT skills course or have some experience of using SMART/ Promethean IWBs prior to starting the course. Courses are planned for:
• Darlington (P)
• Lewisham College (digital photography/S)
• University of Bradford (S)
• Wigan (S)
The second level course covers SMART (S) or Promethean (P) interactive whiteboards (IWBs). Courses are planned for:
• ARC Centre, Swansea (S)
• Canterbury College (P) 5 sessions; 5.30-7.30pm
• Central Bedfordshire College (S) 5-8pm • College of Haringey, Enfield & North East London (P)
• East Berkshire College (S)
• Filton College, Bristol (S)
• Solihull College (S)

NUT reps level 2
16 to 18 November
This course is designed as a follow-up for those who attended the level 1 course a year or more ago.
• How to advise, support and represent members
• Negotiating techniques and collectivising issues
• Current issues and their implications for NUT reps
• Strategies to manage your NUT representatives’ role alongside the demands of your professional role. Apply or get more info at

Learning reps level 2
7 to 9 December
The course is designed for accredited NUT learning reps who have been in post for at least one year.
• Learn about Government policy on learning and skills
• Develop your skills to organise local events
• Develop your negotiating skills, including local learning agreements
• Develop local learning reps’ networks
• Use ICT to support your learning rep role. Apply or get more info at
