SEPTEMBER is an epoch celebrating month for Soma, the Glasgow-based label who introduced the world to some of house and techno’s biggest draws including Daft Punk, Funk D’Void, Slam (aka label bosses Stuart McMillan and Orde Meikle) and Silicone Soul, and this year reach their 20th birthday.
And Finally MARU
Out on September 19th is ‘Soma Records - 20 Years’, a whopping triple compilation which contains an unmixed CD of their finest moments including ‘Right On, Right On’, ‘Diablo’ and Daft Punk’s funked-up mix of Scott’s Groove’s Parliament sampling ‘Mothership
Reconnection’, plus mixes from Slam and Silicone Soul.
Not only that though, after digging through the dusty boxes in their offices they’ve also uncovered a previously unreleased Daft Punk track from 1994, something that’s sure to resonate with anyone who has ‘Homework’ on their shelf at home!
To celebrate they’re throwing on of their Pressure at The Arches, Glasgow, on Friday 20th September, and another at Fabric, London, on Saturday 1st October.
