Spring Community Service Day

Custom designed rain barrels were created by over 30 volunteers on Friday, June 10, 2011 at the Cambridge Chamber of Commerce Spring Community Service Day. With paints, green trash barrels and lots of vision, the group painted nature-themed scenes onto the barrels that included flowers, water, sky, handprints and more. Volunteers came prepared with an idea and with the assistance of the Cambridge Department of Public Works led by Ellen Coppinger, they transformed generic barrels into works of art that were placed throughout Cambridge parks for summer overflow. All of the volunteers had a great time with this project as it offered them the opportunity to use their creativity, painting skills, see the fruits of their labor immediately and help beautify the Cambridge parks.
The volunteers represented Cambridge Trust Co., Cambridge Savings Bank, Hyatt Regency Cambridge, Tyler Lynch P.C., State Street, Danversbank and more.
Thank you to 2011 Community Outreach Committee sponsor Cambridge Savings Bank.
