President's Viewpoint

As you melt en route to whatever mode of transport provides your commute, I think it’s safe to say, summer is upon us. I realize many of you travel into Cambridge for work but many of you also live here. Regardless, in my opinion, summer is one of the best times of year to take advantage of all our city has to offer.

You’ll fined a plethora of opportunities to spend time outdoors, from dining to concerts, festivals and more. It’s a great time to be in Cambridge! As I review the listings that come to the CCC office and experience many of the locales or events myself, I can’t help but feel the need to share. Following is just a snapshot of ideas and activities for taking some time out for you, your friends and your family. Please note that this list is not in any particular order.

1) Lunchtime Concert Series
A great break from your phone and computer.

2) Farmer’s Markets
M’mm nothing says summer like fresh fruits & veggies.

3) Charles River Boat Cruise
Celebrate the best views from the water!

4) Summer in the City
Enjoy a variety of art, music & performers all over the city, through September 1.

5) Hotel, Inn or B&B Stay
Treat your loved one(s) to a getaway.

6) Dining
Your overnight stay would not be complete without a fine meal in one of Cambridge’s over 250 restaurants. Not staying overnight? Well, then just stay for dinner!

7) Museums
Want to stay cool but cultured? Take in one of our great museums located throughout the city. Consider university, private or other museum programs.

8) Cambridge Movie Nights
Your family will love the experience of seeing a movie outdoors. In fact, bring along a picnic or grab some food on your way.

9) Restaurant Week
Yummm, need we say more. August 14-19 & 21-26.

10) Duck Boat Tours
Always a hit. Make sure you “Quack” back when they cruise on by!

There is so much to enjoy here locally that it is very difficult to highlight a specific list within an allotted amount of space. I wanted to provide a wide variety of ideas to demonstrate all there is to see and do. For more ideas please visit our Web site as well as those of other community organizations and the City.
If you live here, please take advantage of what your own neighborhood has to offer; if you come here for work, I invite you to stay after work or bring your family in to enjoy what this eclectic, exciting and engaging community has to offer —I guarantee you’ll appreciate it even more. Enjoy the rest of your summer!

Best in business,
