6 News Health Insurance Awards just a few weeks away

AXA PPP BROKER BID AXA PPP healthcare has entered into an agreement to buy the broker Health-on-Line. A spokesman said that the deal, which is still subject to the approval of the Financial Services Authority, would strengthen the insurer’s presence in the online health arena, where the broker “already enjoys considerable success”. In recent years AXA PPP healthcare has been at the forefront of intermediary acquisitions through its subsidiaries Venture Preference and Thinc Group, buying firms including The Health Insurance Group, Essential Healthcare and PIFC Consulting.

ABSENCE MORALE ISSUES Long-term absence damages the morale of those employees who are left in the workplace, according to new research. A study for Aviva UK Health suggests nearly a quarter of employees (23%) consider it “no fun” working for a company where colleagues go on long-term sick leave. One in five (22%) get annoyed and feel overworked if they have to make up for a colleague’s absence in the workplace. The study was carried out among 1,000 British employees.
