Borro-ing HMS President And so to HMS President on London’s Thames

and the first of many Summer parties, this one kindly hosted by our friends at Borro last month. More than 150 of the great and good of the

short-term finance industry were in attendance alongside some of London’s finest mortgage bro- kers for an evening of entertainment and lots of free booze. Highlight of the evening was the chance to blitz

down the Thames on a Rib – a speed boat that zoomed guests at up to 35 knots pulling “G” on the ultimate cruise. Alas, it wasn’t enough to tempt the Mortgage

Introducer team who all politely declined. “Oh. My. God,” exclaimed Mortgage Introducer

editor Sarah Davidson. “I’m dressed to go to a party I can’t possibly go on a Rib. What about my hair!” Indeed. And party she did, with our Davo last

spotted strolling home at 7:15am after the party finished the next day.

It pays to be Precise Just a week later and it was party number two, this

time over at London Bridge’s swanky Delfina Gal- lery to celebrate the launch of Precise Mortgages bridging proposition. Nearly 200 of the industry’s finest turned out to

help with Mortgage Introducer editor Sarah Da- vidson cutting short her Scottish holiday to attend the bash. With a relatively early finish of around 12 mid-

night the action continued over at London’s exclu- sive Dover Street Wine Bar. But not so for Precise managing director Alan Cleary and chief executive Ian Lonergan. “We went to Dover Street but only stayed for

one,” a weary Cleary confessed to the HoF the fol- lowing day. “We both had to be back in Birming- ham for 8am so thought it best to take it easy.” Not so for Mortgage Introducer publisher Robyn

Hall and associate publisher Matt Bond, last spotted strolling along Piccadilly at 4:15am.

No Coogan’s bluff this time Over at the Crypt of St Martin in the Fields, off

London’s Trafalger Square and former CML direc- tor general Michael Coogan was having a party of his own as he celebrated an extensive career at the helm of one of the UK’s foremost trade associations. Among the guests were Luke March, former boss of the Mortgage Code Compliance Board, Matthew Wyles, group distribution director of Nationwide and Norwich & Peterborough chief executive Anne Gunther, the former chief exec of Standard Life Bank.

58 MORTGAGe INTRODUCeR AUGUST 2011

Congratulations to Adrian Edmonds who will shortly receive £50 of John Lewis vouchers courtesy of Kensington.

Just take a look at this photo of an England training session and work out where the ball is. Photocopy the page, put a cross where you think the centre of the ball is, and send it – along with your name and address – to Nia at the address on page 3. Good luck!

Callum Inches Seems Callum McCarthy has found the attention of Private Eye magazine now he’s no longer head of the Financial Services Authority and heading up new venture Castle Trust as chairman. “JC Flowers’ latest

brainwave is designed to increase speculation on housing and increase high borrowing on prop- erties,” chortled the mag. “So another stable,

unadventurous financial institution has been revved up with a new, profit-hungry financial design. “Chris Flowers is a

tough deal maker,” it added. “In 2009 he told a US conference that, thanks to the financial crisis, “lowlife grave- dancers like me will make a fortune”. “We were warned,” the Eye concludes.

A welcome return for Sanders & co Colin Sanders, new CEO of bridging lender Omni

Capital, enters The Hall of Fame this month, not least for his blistering performance at a recent Bridging Introducer round-table event sponsored by Tiuta.

Colin of course was previously CEO of General Electric Money Home Lending and most recently he founded Money Partners – a start- up company and joint venture with Kensington Mortgages PLC. The business was valued at over £100m after two years of trading and was eventually sold.

After an absence of around two years from the mortgage market the HoF was delighted to see him back in action. “Colin has a sound reputation for pioneering development so this is great news for the sector,” piped up BI editor Sarah Davidson. We couldn’t agree more. Sanders, the HoF salutes you. More so for bringing back another legend in the form of PR guru Bob Sturges.
