NEWAVE’S MYCAGE OPERATIONS: AUDIT ASSISTANCE IS AT HAND

P

art of NEWave’s suite of software offering is myCageOperations, a modular software suite designed to aid casinos in all aspects of auditing and currency count security. myCageOperations is highly specialised, secure software to help your casino in many, many different ways, as Bart Lewin, CEO and Chief Technology Officer for NEWave explains: “In casinos it’s all about accounting,

checks and auditing; the inventory is cash, so a thief does not have to fence anything! It’s all about controls, so what NEWave software does is find holes in areas that we can help close up, with compliance, auditing, operations – to try to fill them with automated systems.”

So what does myCageOperations entail? Bart

elaborates: “myCageOperations is a suite of four products. We have what we call the Manual system, which comes into action if a casino host system goes down. The casino is still required to do fills and credits and perform all the usual operations; the old way of doing it involves filling out a form by hand, and the copy of the form goes into a locked box for auditors to look at later. We’ve created an electronic version of this, so if the network or host system goes down you can still operate on the computer, and they’re readable and secure. When the system comes back up, we can then take the information that’s been entered manually and update the host systems with that.

casino, that the customer will spend some of the money there on the way home. Because of the volume of checks that are cashed by casinos, counterfeiters have become very active – fake paychecks, that kind of thing. We have a payroll check verification service where we keep images of verified payroll checks. We scan the check that’s been cashed and the operator will see an image of a verified payroll check alongside the check to be cashed. It

will also put up the ID, so we take a scan of the person cashing the check’s ID. We then put up the ID we know to be good against the ID being presented, so the cashier can verify. We also provide a history of the checks this person has cashed, and for the company, so we can see if the same check number has been used twice, and we can alert the casino.

“As part of the suite we also have, eDeposit, which automatically deposits and archives the checks, which can sometimes be a jurisdictional requirement.

“There’s also Vault Manager, which assists a casino cage to count down and audit. Each

cashier drawer, any retail outlet, anywhere there is cash in the casino, this is a great aid in the auditing process. With the Soft Count Kiosk Manager we can also give auditing services for tickets received – or changed – by the casino kiosk.”

Bart sums up succinctly the overall impact of myCageOperations when he says: “Not Bart Lewin, CEO and Chief Technology Officer “We also have, as part of the suite, a piece of software called Check Prove. In the US many

casinos offer a payroll check cashing service. On a Friday night, or after payday, people without bank accounts or who just want some convenient cash, take that paycheck to the casino. The casino offers that service hoping that some of their money will stay with the

only do we significantly cut down the time it takes to do each of these operations, but we also make them more accurate.”
