First Words

So it’s another first as I take my inaugural steps around Friedrichshafen for OutDoor this month.

I’ve got to be honest and say that I’m very much looking forward to spending four days wandering around the halls, absorbing all I can about what’s new and upcoming in the outdoor market.

I’m also quite looking forward to camping for a few nights. It’s been a while since I’ve packed a rucksack proper and bunked down in a tent, but it should be a good experience, from a professional standpoint if nothing else.

I’ll be doing it all on my own though as my colleague and regular travelling buddy John Andrews and his wife are expecting their first baby in the coming weeks. Congratulations to them, even though it means I’ll be tackling my first OutDoor singlehandedly.

Not that I’m too concerned mind you, as the outdoor bunch are a fairly jovial and chatty crowd as I’m sure you’ll all know. I’m expecting to spend a few days deepening relationships and starting some new ones, as is always the way with these shows. OutDoor also means we’ll be able to fill the August issue of SGB Outdoor with all the big news and product developments to come out of the show, so make sure you keep an eye on your inbox and on www.sgboutdoor.co.uk/digital. I may even send the odd Tweet or two, so follow me at twitter.com/mrdavidpittman as well if you’re so inclined.
