Through September 5: Pavilion of Wings. Stroll through the outdoor, landscaped butterfly enclosure to discover hundreds of butterflies. Monday - Friday, 9:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.; Saturday - Sunday, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Adults, $3; kids (5-17), $2; plus museum admission.
Various weekends throughout the year: Museum Overnights. Ever wonder what happens in the museum at night? Kids (5+) find out by touring galleries, exploring some of the ancient fossils in the collections and taking a close look at some live relatives of the fossils that make their home at the museum. Bring your sleeping bag, air mat- tress and flashlight, and fall asleep surrounded by animals in the diorama halls. Snack and light breakfast is provided. Spots available for groups of 10 or more. Adult to child ratio is 1:6.

Select Saturdays, July - August: Blue Whale Safari. Take the family (8+) on a safari, California-style, as you search for the elusive blue whale, often found between our coast and Catalina Island. Keep an eye out for dol- phin, ocean sunfish and other marine animals along the way. Bring a sack lunch. Saturday, 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. $55 per person; includes light breakfast.
Sundays: Tour the Tallship “Pilgrim,” an authentic replica of the two-masted brig that Richard Henry Dana Jr. sailed into Dana Point Harbor in 1834. Staff members, dressed in period costume, lead ongoing tours and a variety of hands-on activities. 11 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Free with admission.

June 19 - September 6: The African Summer Festival celebrates with music and activities, including African acrobats, who are sure to delight young and old. In- cluded with park admission.
