IT’S been a spectacular few months for Julio Bashmore. Already signed to Claude VonStroke’s Dirtybird, his bearded San Fran boss showed faith in the young Bristolian when he chose him as his sole support for a recent London gig. But it was ‘Battle for Middle You’, the track which launched new label PMR, which caught the attention of every DJ worth their salt – from FCL to Ramadanman, who included it on his Fabric mix. As his chart shows, he’s now back
with two new follow-up releases, ‘Craboon’ and ‘Father Father’ come from the EP which launches another new label, Futureboogie Records (associated with the long running Bristol club night), while‘Ribble To Amazon’ is out on Martyn’s 3024. Pairing rib rattling sub-bass with the deepest, sensual chord washes and sweet female vocals, they might be less peak time than his previous endeavour, but there’s no doubt that they’ll help build on his growing rep as a fresh, unique talent.
