I admire all the 10 goal players, but my favourites are Cambiaso and Facundo Pieres. Next on my polo calendar is to hopefully get to Argentina before getting ready for the 2011 season in which my handicap has been raised this year to a (0) and I will look forward to playing in the 15 goal tournaments.

RICCARDO AMBROSIO

My passion for horses began when I was five years old. I used to show jump with a friend, which I found great fun. However, it all started when that same friend discovered polo and invited me to try it at the Ham Polo

Club. It felt as if I had just met with the best of my dreams! The combination of both speed and technique was confusing at first but I could not wait to play my first match. I began taking care of and riding my friends’ horses with an amazing teacher, Marianela Castagnola.

Every year she invites me to her farm in Argentina, an amazing place to improve and learn. Two years ago, I got my own horse and began playing small tournaments and play chukkas with adults at the club. I really like to take every opportunity to play and to improve. For the coming season, I would like to step it up by getting a team together and start competing more often against other teams.

FLYNN BUSSON I had my first polo experience when I was 10 years old. One day, I went to a polo match at Dubai Polo Pitches to see my friend, Alba, play a charity match against Cambiaso. At first I wasn’t that interested. The rules were unclear and

the game was blurred. Cambiaso invited me to try it out; I hesitated because of my allergy to horses. However, I put that aside, took a Claritin, and hopped on. When I broke into a canter after only about fifteen minutes of riding, I loved it and my dad was so proud and shocked. I felt free and excited. I was hooked. When I got off, Cambiaso told me that I was a natural and had to take it up as a hobby. That was what really encouraged me to go for it.

The London Polo Club 19

At the beginning, I found polo really challenging. I loved the riding but I struggled to hit the ball while moving. A year ago, however, after a long 10 days of hard riding in Argentina, my determination paid off. I finally started to be able to hit the ball whilst in a canter. To travel at such speed and still be in control feels incredible!

I love Ham Polo Club. The match days are a lot of fun and the Sunday food is the best! My ambition is to continue, playing. I love the fact that polo is such an international sport, and that I can meet from people all around the world.

JACK GODDICK I spend most of my school holidays in Argentina - that’s how I first became interested in polo. I really like the way all the guys working on the ranches play polo for fun at the end of the day.

I started having lessons with Adolfo Casabal who is a really good teacher. I learned to ride and play polo at the same time which I think is a really good way to do it because you think about hitting the ball and forget about falling off (until it happens).

It’s really fun at Ham because there are so many opportunities for kids to play matches at big events and with great players. It was amazing playing on the same team as Adolfo Cambiaso at the Gaucho Sunset Polo event.
