Despite his own signifi cant career success, the elder Steverson was most interested in helping his son fi nd a personal sense of peace. “My dad used to tell me that I could become the most successful person in the world but would never be truly happy unless I was comfortable with who and what I am,” Steverson says. She drove us hard to succeed. Today we’re all professionals.” Steverson’s college career did not


follow a normal path. A gifted track and fi eld athlete, Steverson was more interested in improving his half-mile and mile times than concentrating on grades. He began college at SUNY Brockport, and after a short period was given a full athletic scholarship to the University of North Florida. After just one year in Florida, he put his studies on hold in order to concentrate solely on qualifying
