Manufacturer’s Comments
The Edge is a full-sized canoe paddle featuring a curved blade to deliver maximum power with every stroke. Good for whitewater or for paddlers who like a really big blade. Open boaters and C1 paddlers alike are enjoying the smooth, stable feel of the Edge—not to mention the unbeatable price to weight combination. The injection moulded T-grip handle allows for comfort and precise paddle control. The Edge is available in either fibreglass or carbon construction.
In 1982, Bending Branches pioneered the marriage of composites and fine wood paddles with a DuPont Kevlar 49 paddle tip that revolutionized the paddle industry. Rockgard is now standard on most Branches paddles. The Explorer is a favourite for wilderness tripping, designed with a 9-laminate wood blade for paddlers looking for a superb straight paddle. The Performer bent-shaft is a large, tough, lightweight paddle delivering optimal performance. The 14-degree bend is ideal for cruising flatwater.
Carlisle paddles set the standard for design, durability and value. Our five models of aluminum/metal paddles feature full-blade reinforcement to provide strength and durability. Blades and grips are moulded from specially-formulated, ultraviolet-resistant synthetics. These paddles are designed to withstand the most rugged use and never require maintenance. Our four models of economically-priced wood paddles transmit the feel of the water and flex slightly to absorb shock.
Andy Convery started Echo paddles in 1998 for discriminating paddlers who desire the beauty and feel of wood yet are also concerned about the environmental impact of wood products. Echo paddles are handcrafted in small numbers from sustainably-harvested local wood and are available in a variety of models from flatwater style paddling to whitewater creeking. A fine balance between strength and lightweight results in elegant paddles that are a pleasure to use.
This family company, founded in 1990, gained popularity among the top world K1 and C1 slalom racers for its high quality and innovative design of slalom paddles. Many of the world’s best racers are directly involved with the designing of new products. In 2002, the C1 Demon (midi) took third place at the Pre-World's in Austria. It is now available in the larger (maxi) size for the extreme paddler who prefers a larger blade.
Grey Owl Paddles has produced state-of-the-art wooden canoe paddles at competitive prices since 1976. At Grey Owl, years of research, development and innovation meet with engineering excellence to deliver the most advanced wooden paddles. We lead the industry with features such as our unique herringbone veneer design or our models with urethane plastic edging where you need it. With 24 different models, there is a Grey Owl paddle that will fit in your hands.
Kettlewell paddles are all hand-carved from a single piece of wood. Four models (Ottertail, Modified Ottartail, Ray's Special and, for soloists, the Quill) are most often available in strong yet lightweight cherry wood. Custom paddles available. Probably the best paddles you can buy.
Mohawk paddles are constructed of a high-impact plastic blade and grip and anodized aluminum shaft. It combines maintenance-free performance and durability at a reason- able price. A plastic-shaft grip eliminates aluminum oxide "rub-off" and cold hands. This paddle is lightweight and floats horizontally in the water. Mohawk's 12-degree bent- shaft paddle features an extremely comfortable contoured pear grip usually found only on top-of-the-line competition paddles. A bent-shaft paddle at an economic price.
Pack & Paddle Adventure is a small, family-owned workshop specializing in quality products for the serious canoeist. Our specialty is a handcrafted bent-shaft paddle designed for the wilderness tripper. It combines the beauty of wood with the strength of modern glass and resins, making a lightweight yet durable product. Five coats of marine varnish give the finishing touches of gloss and protection. Each paddle is unique and is signed and numbered.
We offer premium paddles, crafted for discriminating paddlers whose needs are not being met by factory paddles. Traditional lakewater tripping paddles match a variety of grips and blade shapes. Our performance Bentshaft and Freestyle paddles have evolved with the most current thinking. Everything is done to produce a superior pad- dle. The result is not only strikingly beautiful, but also strong and durable. You must try one to truly appreciate the qualities of these precision paddles.
Sawyer Paddles and Oars builds the legendary ones: Cruiser, Egret, Stingray, Sea Feather, Arrowhead, ZigZag, Sawyer Light, MX-G and Smoker Drifter. The craftsmen at Sawyer Paddles and Oars have been creating innovative light, responsive, state-of-the-art wood and wood-core composite paddles and oars since 1968. We enjoy cus- tom work. If you don't see what you want, call us. We can help make your ideas a reality.
We make one-piece paddles of birch, cherry and ash. They are durable, reliable and affordable Our paddles range in size from 36" to 70" but we'll custom make pad- dles too. We also make yokes of birch, poplar, cherry and ash wood. We have reduced prices for canoe manufacturers, dealers and camps.
Every Turtle paddle is hand-carved from a solid piece of hardwood and finished with a wet-oil sanding and three coats of urethane. Our long, slender blades are fully cambered with finely-tapered edges to glide easily and quietly through the water. Oval shafts add strength to these rugged tripping paddles while keeping the weight down. The pear-shaped grips are rounded to fit your hand and oiled instead of varnished for a smoother feel.
