into the air and again, the short ends make the boat easy to get around for loops."—Brendan Mark, Dagger.

"The FX does most everything surprisingly well. The outfitting is outstandingly comfortable."—Eric Gautier, Pyranha.

"The thing was fast and I really hate to admit it but it felt really good. I like how loose it was. You could spin it and use the edges to continue the spin clean for as long as you want. Billy gives her a 10 out of 10."—Billy Harris, Necky.

"The FX bounces well; its narrow, fast hull gets the forward speed up and the good rocker profile lets the boat take off. It’s frustratingly slow backwards. " Patrick Camblin, Liquid Logic.

"Odd. That’s the best way to sum it up. The add-on volume thingies are a joke. Throw them away; they’re heavy and they add minimal volume and they make rotation for loops slower. The boat can loop like a madman. Big explosive loops. It’s hard to control angles so you have to watch it because you’ll miss half of them, but the ones you get are big. Cartwheeling is no fun at all. So fun for certain things, but not a great over-all hole performer."— Corran Addison, Riot.

Rapid bottom line:

The FX is good at all things wavy; the larger, faster and bouncier the wave, and the further away it is from a hole, the better it performed—unless of course you want to pop loops all day, then by all means drop in a hole and get silly.

Liquidlogic SPACE CADET length: 5’11” width: 25” weight: 27lbs volume: 55 gal

The easiest way to describe the Space Cadet at a bar would be to say Liquidlogic cut the ends off last year’s boats. No doubt that’s where they began but if you think you’ll take a saw and torch to your Pop and get the same boat, think again. The planing surface has been increased, more volume has been placed in the cockpit area, and the rocker profile has been tweaked, all in the name of more bounce and pop. The outfitting is highlighted by the IR Flex Capacitor backband inte- grated into thighbrace ratchets.

A+ Bounce: No boat goes higher. A+ Pop: Lots of knee and cockpit volume. B Hull Speed C Carving/Edge: But, not likely to trip you up either. B Release A Looseness C Slice/Hole play: Fast, corky, tumbling ends. B All-river B Outfitting

Pro Quotes

"Big fun and bouncy hull with lots of rocker. The large planing surface combined with good kick rocker makes this boat jump off the water!"—Patrick Camblin, Liquidlogic.

"Oh-my-god this thing is slow. Planing speed wasn’t much better than hull speed. I had to butt bounce my way about the wave face. This is due to the rocker shape’s crisp break just behind the seat creating a low- pressure area under the stern that sucks the stern

down. However, this was most noticeable on big waves. On smaller features and low speeds this was barely noticeable, and the boat was as fast as any other."—Corran Addison, Riot.

"Air, air air and euh… air. All moves are made easy with this boat. The new back-band system is excep- tional due to the rigid band like bar reaching around the paddler. It never slips!"—Eric Gautier, Pyranha.

"The Space Cadet’s bounce is truly amazing but it doesn’t carve compared to the Vibe or the Air 45. I guess that’s one of the few downfalls of making an idiot proof, friendly boat."—Billy Harris, Necky.

"The Space Cadet is so tiny—it really is shaped like a potato—when you cartwheel in a hole it feels more like tumbling; I can only control my ends for so long until the boat gets going too fast and I fall on my face."—Joe Hitchins, Bliss Stick.

"Pop was the Space Cadet’s strong point. The majority of the Space Cadet’s volume is situated around the knees, allowing for a lot of "pop" when exiting the water. The smaller ends helped for initiations as there was less volume to push into the water to line yourself up for huge loops."—Brendan Mark, Dagger.

Rapid bottom line:

Liquidlogic traded hull speed for more kick rocker, carving for forgiveness and sliceability for voluptuous bounce. Would we make any changes? Only if it does- n’t affect the Space Cadets amazing aerial wave capa- bilities—no boat goes bigger!
