DRIVING
POWER 10
KILLERS
...and how to cure them
F
or a lucky few, power comes naturally. Without thinking about it or trying to hit the ball too hard, they seem capable of producing
prodigious distances that offer golden birdie opportunities. Unfortunately, for the rest of us, we have to work on our techniques to make them as effi cient as possible. Over the years I’ve coached thousands
of amateurs of vastly differing abilities, and I see the same distance-killing mistakes crop up time and again. So, as part of
Golf Monthly’s big power issue, I’ve selected the ten most common. From too much tension at address to an ineffi cient upper- body coil, the following feature highlights the pitfalls that every golfer, no matter what their ability, should try to avoid. If you can pinpoint where you go wrong and
use my tips to phase out the issue, I guarantee you’ll add extra yards to your drives.
