Women’s Tennis Women’s Record: 12-2 (2-0 ACC)


l The Blue Devils picked up two more wins on the season, defeating Arizona State and California. l On Thursday, freshman Rachel Kahan extended her win streak to 13 consecutive matches as Duke cruised to a 5-2 win over Arizona State at the Whiteman Tennis Center. l Mary Clayton and Monica Gorny continued their stellar doubles performance with an 8-3 win over Sianna Simmons and Ashlee Brown. l With her singles win, senior Reka Zsilinszka moved to fourth place on the Duke all-time wins list. l On Friday, the Blue Devils took down seventh-ranked California, 5-2. l Kahan extended her singles match win streak to 14, while senior Elizabeth Plotkin picked up her seventh win in a row. Clayton also added to her singles winning streak, picking up her fourth victory in a row. l The Blue Devils will continue their road trip when they travel to take on No. 15 Notre Dame in Tampa, Fla., on March 17. First serve is scheduled for 12 p.m. at the University of South Florida Varsity Courts.


Baseball Record: 14-4 (2-1 ACC)


l The Blue Devils took 2-of-3 from ACC rival N.C. State over the weekend, fell to William & Mary and won a home contest Tuesday afternoon over N.C. Central to win three of their last five games. l Last Wednesday, freshman third baseman Jordan Betts extended his hitting streak to 11 games with a pair of singles and drove in a run in Duke’s 7-4 loss at William & Mary. l On Friday, the Blue Devils dropped the first game of a weekend series against N.C. State, 4-3. Starting pitcher Chase Bebout, a 6-6, 200-pound sophomore, struck out 10 in the loss. l On Saturday, sophomore Jeff Kremer’s first career home run and freshman Chris Marconcini’s two triples helped lead Duke to an 8-3 win over N.C. State to even the series. l On Sunday, sophomore Marcus Stroman threw seven innings of one-run baseball, and freshman Anthony D’Alessandro hit a three- run home run to lead the Blue Devils to a series- clinching 7-1 win over the Wolfpack. l On Tuesday, Dillon Haviland pitched five shutout innings to pick up his first win of the season, and Joe Pedevillano notched a career-high five RBI to lead Duke to an 11-3 win over N.C. Central.


Fencing Men’s Record: 16-7 Women’s Record: 17-6


l On Sunday, junior Becca Ward won the NCAA Mid-Atlantic/South Regionals for the third straight year and was one of nine Blue Devils to notch top-10 finishes at the event. l Ward won the women’s saber division, while senior Dorian Cohen took third in men’s foil, freshman Dylan Nollner took third in men’s epee and sophomore All-America Emily D’Agostino took fourth in women’s epee. l Also notching top-10 finishes at the event were sophomore Anthony Lin (6th, saber), freshman Matthew Budofsky (9th, foil), junior Jonathan Parker (10th, epee), sophomore Sean Cadley (10th, saber) and freshman Mary Tung (8th, epee).


Blue Devil Blitz Women’s Golf


l At the LSU Tiger Golf Classic, sophomore Lindy Duncan carded a one-under-par, 71, as she netted her second collegiate and first tournament victory of the 2010-11 campaign on Sunday. l Duncan finished her 54-holes of action with a two-over-par, 218. She earned the win by beating Louisville’s AnnaKarin Ljungstrom on the third hole of a sudden-victory playoff. l As a team, Duke turned in a tied for third place finish as Arkansas shot one-under-par, 287, to close the weekend with an 888 winning the classic. l Freshman Laetitia Beck closed her weekend with a solid round of two-over-par, 74, after posting two consecutive rounds of 79. She placed tied for 43rd overall with a 232. l The Blue Devils will next play at the Bryan National Collegiate from March 25-27 at the Champions Course at Bryan Park in Greensboro, N.C.


Men’s Golf


l The Blue Devils finished above four top 25 teams en route to an eighth-place showing at the Southern Highlands Collegiate Masters. The Blue Devils posted a nine-over 297 in the final round to cap the event with a +29, 893. l Sophomores Tim Gornik and Brinson Paolini paced the Blue Devils in the final round with one-over 73s. Gornik finish tied for 15th, while Paolini closed in a tie for 25th. action March 20-22 at the Callaway Collegiate Match Play Championship in Ball Ground, Ga.


Swimming & Diving Men’s Record: 3-4 (1-3 ACC) Women’s Record: 3-5 (0-4 ACC)


l On the final day of the NCAA Zone B Championships in Athens, Ga., freshman Haley Ishimatsu finished third in the platform competition with a score of 623.75. Sophomore and defending national champion, Nick McCrory was unmatched on the platform, finishing with a score of 976.40. l McCrory earned a fifth-place finish on the first day in the one-meter board competition and earned first-place honors on day two in the three-meter competition. l Junior Abby Johnston picked up her third- consecutive first place finish on the three-meter springboard during the first day, followed by the junior grabbing gold in the finals on day two with a score of 628.35 in the one-meter competition. l The women open the 2011 NCAA Swimming and Diving Competition on Thursday, March 17 in Austin, Texas, while the men will head to Minneapolis, Minn., Thursday, March 24.


Rowing


l On Monday, the Blue Devils opened the spring season with a scrimmage against the University of Buffalo in Oak Ridge, Tenn. l Duke will open official timed competition this weekend when they head to Cherry Hill, N.J., to compete in a double dual meet against Penn and St. Joseph’s on Saturday, March 19.
