APP REVIEW
APP NAME : RADAR BEATS PRO DEVELOPER : BENJAMIN AXFORD FORMAT : PRICE :
RADAR BEATS PRO looks like little you will have previously seen. Applying touchscreen technology and using mobile capabilities, the developer was able to conceptualise a weird and wonderful piece of software which would be just too static in a desktop device or expensive in a standalone unit.
As the name suggests this app is all about making beats, though probably not in a way to which you will be accustomed. The arrangement screen is basically a blank space into which you drag ‘radars’, these being the building blocks of your beat. They

denote hit frequency and you then choose which beat sample(s) to play simply by dragging the option on top of the radar. Several effects can also be placed on top of that, such as reverse, crush and echo.
Where things get really interesting is when you place a sample within two radar zones, or two samples within the same radar. It sounds confusing, but within minutes you’ll be programming rhythms with surprisingly organic results. In an out there way, this could be the future of sequencing.
VERDICT 7/10
