PEOPLE ZOOPLA has appointed


Horntrich to start at XL in July XL Insurance has appointed a new chief underwriting officer for international property, Matthias Horntrich, to start in July. He has 15 years experience of property underwriting across various European countries. Horntrich returns to XL after a year as regional head of property for Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty, where he was responsible for the UK, Ireland, The Netherlands, Belgium and South Africa. Prior to that, he occupied various underwriting roles with


XL insurance.


Colliers keen to promote Hadley Dean Colliers International has promoted Hadley Dean to managing partner of its New Europe division, giving him control over 650 staff in 16 offices across 13 Eastern and Central European countries. RICS creates executive director role The Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors has appointed Mark Walley as it’s UK Executive Director. This newly created position aims to enhance the organisation’s ability to advance and enforce land, property and built environment standards in the UK, as well as promoting the profession in the UK. Walley said: “The UK is a key market which has many opportunities for further development and


so I am particularly pleased.”


JLL appoint Polish research analyst Jones Lang LaSalle has appointed Agnieszka Sosnowska as a research analyst for its research and consultancy team, which now consists of six people based in Warsaw. Prior to joining, Sosnowska worked at Ernst and Young, as an analyst in the real estate advisory group where she was responsible for preparing analysis, reports and presentations concerning the commercial and residential real estate markets in Poland and selected Central and Eastern European cities.

CBRE expanding in Bahrain


CB RICHARD ELLIS is expanding its Bahrain based team, and has appointed Afshan Shah Dadabai as manager of research and consultancy at their Manama office. Dadabai is a Bahraini national, and has over 10 years of research and consultancy experience in the Middle East, and is a specialist in market appraisals, feasibility studies, best-use development studies and high-level financial modelling.


Prior to joining CBRE, Dadabai worked at Cluttons, where she was a manager in strategic consultancy. The senior director of research and consultancy for CBRE in Bahrain, Mike Williams, said: “We are delighted that Afshan Dadabai is joining our fi rm. She has a wealth of experience and talent that can be put to the immediate benefi t of our regional clients, offering a unique perspective on the local market that only a National can provide. Movers & shakers Zoopla marketing move


New partner


International law firm Salans has appointed Dan Larkin as a partner in its Global Real Estate and Global Corporate Practice Group. Larkin is a senior hospitality and real estate finance expert, and will head Salans’ Global Hospitality Sector group from London.


Larkin - below - was previously co-head of Squire, Sanders & Dempsey’s Real Estate Finance practice in Europe, where he focussed on project, real estate and asset-backed transactions.


He said: ““I see Salans as a great platform on which to grow my practice, which stretches from the hospitality business to projects across the globe, including many dynamic emerging markets where Salans has a leading reputation. I have watched Eric Rosedale and Evan Z. Lazar [Co-Chairmen of Salans’ Global Real Estate Group] build a powerful real estate team from the ground up, and I am delighted that they have now brought me on board and we have decided to join forces.”
