MARTIN DAWSON has long been admired by DJmag. As King Roc he formed part of The Ignition Crew, alongside the likes of Tom Neville, spinning electro house at a time when it was still the height of cool, led by the then newer than new Get Physical. Moving into deeper waters as electro turned into kiddy noise, his album ‘Chapters’ then saw 2009 nominations for Best of British Best Producer and Best Album while he also worked with Secretsundaze Giles Smith as Two Armadillo. Now operating under his
parentally approved moniker, he’s on another hot run of form with a string of collaborations alongside Andre Crom, Glimpse and this month’s Polish podcasters, Catz ‘N Dogz. Next month then sees the album ‘Sunday Smoking’ released on Moodmusic. Twelve tracks of club focused tracks, our preview confi rms its quality making it one of the fi rst essential house albums of the years.
