In all, I think this is going to be a spectacular conference. Much thanks goes to MACUL Conference Chair, Mike Porter, the outstanding group of MACUL Leaders - both SIG and Board of Directors, the dedicated MACUL office staff and of course MACUL’s Executive Director, Ric Wiltse. Finally, I’d like to thank in advance, our cadre of volunteers. Without them, we couldn’t possibly make the conference run.

I look forward to seeing you all in Detroit.

boss when I became Executive Director of MACUL. Frank was a great sounding board for me, as we spent many hours visioning, dreaming and strategizing about the future of MACUL. Frank was always a big picture type of leader, and I was happy to work at the ground level implementing his ideas.

The year Frank was Board President, he was approached by Jamey Fitzpatrick (MDE) and David Spencer (MVU) about MACUL taking over the Governor’s NextDay Grant project, enabling our organization to fund a full time executive director position. It was a win/win concept and it enabled MACUL to become an organization that was able to go beyond the daunting task of hosting an annual conference.

Frank’s vision resulted in growing the organization in program, budget, staff, and member benefits. He often mentioned to me that MACUL’s position as a leader in educational technology was his legacy of service to our organization.

For that and more, we will long remember Frank R. Miracola. He will be greatly missed.
