KEITH

“It’s the most beautiful place on earth, why would I go anywhere else?”

What can we say about Keith? The ‘King of Kensington’ on the island. He is the owner of the barge, the sole gas pump and co-owner of the only bar. During one of our first nights at the bar, Keith generously provided a few rounds and joined us. The drinks started flowing and so did his stories. One story of some locals having fun with hand grenades. Another story of how they caught some mainland thieves stealing some jet skis. The local’s way of having a little fun was to sharpen knives and tie nooses to scare them a little. It’s hard to believe that it’s an island that

doesn’t have any police. Somehow the community manages just fine. When Keith was young, his family lived near a tourist port so he painted rocks and sold them to tourists traveling on cruise ships. He basically invented the pet rock, and was soon making more money than most of the adults he knew. He also told us the story of how years ago his doctor told him to eliminate all stress immediately. So he picked up and moved here “It’s the most beautiful place on earth, why would I go anywhere else”
