Working with Third-Party Administrators

Program administrators emphasis their lean organizations and specialization. That means outsourcing claims, actuarial services and other specialized functions.

When we work with our actuarial services, our third-party actuarial services, they get the same consistency as to how the claims are handled. It tells a much better story.

Richard Augustyn, NIP Group

Programs are evidence of insurers’ increased willingness to break the insurance supply chain into its component pieces. In turn, experienced program administrators are likely to enlist third-party administrators (TPAs) in servicing their claims, and to turn to independent actuaries for their loss-analysis and related needs.

Richard Augustyn described a long-standing relationship with a claims service, which is handled by a staffer within his organization who oversees all claims. That practice extends to other areas. The services of third party claims or loss control administrators may be contracted by the carrier to complement their own in house services, Pugliese said.
