CDEPP is holding this half-day event in response to our NSS results. These results show that students don’t always understand assessment criteria and find feedback to be unclear or unhelpful.
The conference is suitable for anyone involved in teaching or supporting the work of students of staff

The Third Assessment in Higher Education Conference Wednesday 6 July 2011, University of Cumbria, Carlisle
A partnership event involving the University of Cumbria Study of Higher Education Network, the Northumbria University Centre for Excellence in Assessment for Learning and the British Educational Research Association Higher Education SIG.
This conference will be of interest to lecturers, staff in learning support and those with responsibility for the management and quality assurance of assessment.
Call for papers:
Proposals are sought from both individuals and teams related to the following themes:
• Assessment design
• Marking and academic standards • Involving students in assessment and feedback • Assessment for learning • Assessment technologies

The copy deadline for the next issue of Connect is 18 February 2011.
The shop in The Students’ Union building (on the Lancaster campus) now stocks tea bags, coffee, sugar, milk, Coffee-mate and a variety of biscuits.
Also available are large cups of Fair Trade hot drinks.
Opening hours are Monday to Thursday 8.30am – 4.30pm and Fridays 8.30am – 3.30pm.
