llumina, Inc. (NASDAQ: ILMN) announced HiSeq 1000, a single flow cell version of the company‘s
HiSeq 2000 sequencing system. HiSeq 1000 is designed for researchers who want the ease of use, industry-leading cost per gigabase (Gb) and data rate of the HiSeq 2000 but do not currently require its throughput. As their research scales, users will be able to upgrade their system to the HiSeq 2000 and double their output.

California power company to use the Company’s pa- tented Nansulate®
coatings to increase energy generation efficiency and reduce costs. Previously, Nansulate®
was used
on an oil pipeline project by international power company, Galp Energia, for insulation and corrosion control. The coatings are used worldwide to insulate equipment and facilities, to protect equipment, redu- ce energy consumption, and improve worker safety.
“Nansulate® coating technology is an innovation in
insulation technology. End users of power have been reducing their energy consumption with our coa- tings for years. It is logical that the power companies would also be interested in increasing the efficiency of power generation with this technology,” stated Francesca Crolley, VP of Business Development for Industrial Nanotech, Inc. “We have been working with a large power company on the west coast to identify areas where Nansulate coatings can incre- ase their efficiency, including pipelines, boilers, gas meters, and similar equipment.”

expansion of its ceramic flat filter membrane techno- logy, called CFM Systems®
, for water treatment appli-
cations. The Company has now agreed the terms and conditions for establishing a joint venture in Saudi Arabia with a Saudi Arabian investor from Jeddah and a consortium of German industrial investors. ItN Nanovation will initially hold a 17.5% share in the joint venture, which will later be increased to 40%. This rise has already been stipulated in the term sheet and must be implemented by 2014.
The parties are likely to sign binding agreements re- garding the joint venture by the end of November.
