PRODUCING SINCE THE AGE OF 15 after getting the bug making urban London- centric beats on her school’s antiquated PC, 23-year-old Maya Jane Coles is everywhere at the moment. With a nomination for Best of British Breakthrough Producer, her latest ‘Cool Down EP’ for Dogmatik is a Killer in the December issue of DJmag, combining deep dub house with trademark chopped vocals for the kind of distinctive sonic palette that’s been winning her fans from Laurent Garnier to Drums Of Death.

Her forthcoming ‘Humming Bird EP’ for Hypercolour (out 6th December) combines warm, organic house grooves with vocals from Maya herself on the kind of ‘90s trip-hop inspired beats that also fuel She Is Danger, her collaboration with Lena Cullen which has already seen them remix Massive Attack, Delphic and Gorillaz. Add to that dubstep inspired releases under the name of Nocturnal Sunshine and you have a fi erce, new talent indeed.
