MARK HENNING, the UK born, Berlin based, DJ has obviously been staying in out of the (let’s moan about it, we’re British) increasingly miserable, cold, dark, wet nights getting in some serious studio time instead. ‘Lucky J’, his new release for Cityfox, comes in not one, not two, but… OK, it is two volumes but that was enough to impress us. Eight tracks highlight his typically wonky tech-funk sound, keeping you smiling and


bouncing as your brain slowly melt out of your ears, with the bass mechanics of ‘Collider’ a particular favourite.


There’s also a tasty remix courtesy of Jamie Jones, giving ‘Lucky J’ his current nouveau rave twist, which may, or may not (but may) be the result of the pair’s shared love of the Roland Jupiter Syntheziser. Yep, this one goes out to all the production nerds who’ve ever wished they owned one too…
