“We enjoyed every minute of our magical Culturious trip to Provence. Honestly, the small group tours are a perfect

format. Our group of 16 hit it off immediately and truly got to know each other in a way that is different from what one

experiences in a larger group... making for a wonderful intimacy that reflects the ‘Culturious experience.’

1. AIX. ART. A MANSION HOTEL. Tour begins: 3 PM at Le Pigonnet, Aix-en-Provence. A transfer is included from Marseille Provence Airport to Le Pigonnet, the epitome of French country living just outside of town and a favorite haunt of Paul Cézanne, who used to visit the pink mansion and gardens with welcome frequency! Become acquainted with the quintessential charms of Aix (pronounced “ex,” you’ll be referring to it like the locals before the day is done) as our resident guide personally leads an afternoon stroll along its storied boulevards, following in the footsteps of counts, kings and many a great painter. Immortalized in paint and print (if you’ve read Peter Mayle’s celebrated A Year in Provence, you may have already imagined yourself here!), the pace of life in Aix is laid-back leisure, defined by a joie de vivre that’s reflected in lively café terraces serving pastis, local rosé and freshly baked baguettes. This evening, savor regional gourmet specialties during cocktails and dinner at your hotel. Meals D

2. C’EST CÉZANNE IN AIX Exercise your mind with a real-life art history lesson. Learn about the life of Paul Cézanne and the landscapes that inspired him, including a look inside his studio. 17th-century Cours Mirabeau,

– Barb Reif, CT

Food and art are passions in Provence. Add in a local chef, a food expert, a wine expert... a trip to the local market – and what follows is the most amazing hands-on lesson in creating Provençal cuisine. Delectable wine tastings, gastronomic epicurean discoveries, savory entrées al fresco... a week in Provence is culinary sensory satiation. Later, in a captivating field of lavender,

a luminous palette of warm colors sparks the imagination to create upon paper your own visual impression of soft landscapes changing hues in the waning sun... and the mysteries of Starry Night unfold with new understanding and assimilation gleaned from the magic of all that is Provence.

lined with plane-trees, graceful rococo fountains and opulent mansions invites a bike ride, a stroll or people-watching in a charming café — a ring of streets encircles the Old Town, where pedestrians, and not cars, rule. Parlez-vous Français? You will after an interactive lesson in French that teaches you conversational phrases that are sure to come in handy during your week in Provence! This afternoon, see for yourself the sights that moved artists to create their masterpieces when you join us for a hike up Inspiration Point. Mount Ste-Victoire poses for you off in the distance. Free time rewards the Culturious in you, leaving you free to experience one of the most beautiful cities in France, your way. Meals B

3. ENCHANTING HILLTOP SENTINELS The countryside calls today! Explore the hilltop villages of the Luberon along picturesque, narrow country roads from Gordes to Roussillon. Stroll the arcaded medieval lanes of Gordes, perhaps sampling the cheeses, olive oils and breads available on market day. A walk through country landscapes close to Roussillon immerses in many different shades of light, an inspiration to many painters... 17 shades of ochre have immortalized this richly colored town since Roman times. Visit Bonnieux, unwind over a pastis at a local café, and arrive at your lovely inn in Joucas. Dine at leisure tonight at the hotel — the chef / owner was awarded the “Rising Chef” award by Relais & Châteaux. Bon appetit! Meals BD
