Nimans bulks Radius range

THE Radius range from Nimans now includes call management and call recording, plus an activity monitoring solution designed to track employee work habits includ- ing home workers. The expansion of Nimans’ own- branded Radius portfolio follows a technology partnership between the distributor and Liquid Voice. Of particular interest to resellers

is the new tool for monitoring and reporting on employees’ worksta- tion activities whether in the office or working remotely.

A time-line is maintained show- ing which documents, emails, web- sites and programs have been used. Allan Merten, Call Processing

Specialist at Nimans, commented: “The monitoring solution is suit- ed to all call and contact centres as well as general office locations across the SMB sector. “Activity monitoring operates independently or sits on Nimans’ exclusive Radius voice recording platform, also from Liquid Voice.”

Allan Merten

“The monitoring solution is suited to all call and contact centres as well as general office locations across the SMB sector”

He believes that the monitoring solution could be a trump card for resellers who want to overcome end user reservations about allowing staff to work from home. “This then opens up additional

revenue opportunities for resellers to sell associated remote working products, from system-based solu- tions to headsets and conferenc- ing,” added Merten.

Access solutions offer regulatory and legal compliance with billing options that can provide a lucrative revenue stream for the venue.”

Westcon SIP school

WESTCON Convergence has partnered with a well known pro- vider of the global standard in SIP training and certification. The distributor’s collaboration

with The SIP School offers resellers a range of online SIP-based techni- cal and sales courses. Through a Westcon portal

resellers can access the e-learning programme of training and SSCA certification, as well as a sales and marketing resource centre.

David Grant, Senior Vice

President for Westcon Group Europe, commented: “Standard vendor training alone does not always equip resellers with the req- uisite knowledge around the very protocol upon which their solu- tions are built. “The SIP School training plugs the gap for sales, marketing and technical staff, and offers the foun- dation for selling today’s multi-ven- dor solutions.”

GPS focuses on boosting the channel

GPS Telecoms has appointed Jon Dailey as its new Head of Indirect Sales and Channel. He aims to take GPS Telecoms’

indirect channel up to the next level, providing a one-stop-shop for mobile, comms and IT. “I’m here to make some noise

about GPS Telecoms and take this business to the next stage in its development,” said Dailey. “Expect to see positive changes within GPS Telecoms and what we do for the indirect channel. We will work with our partners to help them build a stronger customer base and to win more business.” Dailey wasted no time in kick- ing off his channel campaign, offer- ing dealers and resellers a single point of access for a complete customer solution, while embark- ing on a recruitment drive with increased commission percentages for all partners. Dailey said he will continue to push the company’s channel strat- egy forward over coming months, and will be bringing new products and selling points to market. Sean Le Tissier, GPS Telecoms CEO, commented: “Jon comes to us with over 20 years of solid expe- rience, and brings with him a new energy, drive and focus that he will channel into taking this business up to the next level.”

BT holds fi bre placing vote

BT HAS launched a nationwide survey to gain a clearer view on where to go next with its fibre broadband deployment. The telco hopes the survey,

which runs until the end of 2010, will pinpoint hot spots with the highest need for fibre broadband. BT plans to base its future

deployment roadmap on these high potential areas, and to expedite the process the company has also rolled out an incentive, called The Race to Infinity, with BT Retail promis- ing funds, if needed, to help enable the five exchanges with the highest demand by early 2012. This could see commercially

viable exchanges brought forward to the front of the queue or non- viable exchanges added to the deployment plans. BT is also pledging to engage with any community that expresses a high level of demand so that all avenues can be explored to see if fibre broadband can be brought to their area. Gavin Patterson, BT Retail

Chief Executive, stated: “BT will have rolled out fibre to more than four million homes by the end of 2010, but it will still have more than 12 million premises to pass by 2015. We want to hear from towns and villages across the UK.”

Gavin Patterson Communications Minister, Ed

Vaizey, added: “People want access to super fast broadband in their communities. I welcome any initia- tive that will lead to private sector investment in fibre networks.” Participants can vote for fibre

broadband on the Race to Infinity website, which will show the num- ber and percentage of votes received for each exchange.

The site will display the top

five exchanges leading the race as exchanges hit 1,000 votes. This scheme, which is open to all communications providers who are trialling or selling Openreach’s fibre broadband access service, allows CPs to nominate exchang- es to be enabled subject to them providing guarantees either about take-up or the necessary gap fund- ing if the exchange is deemed to be non-viable.

Resellers take podium position in NEC Passion for Speed incentive

SOUTHERN Communications, Peach Telecom and Incom Business Systems took podium positions in NEC’s Passion for Speed incen- tive, winning a high octane week- end at the FIA GT3 European Championship races in the Algarve. The visit included trackside seats and a chance to meet winning drivers Paul Van Splunteren and Marco Holzer, who both drove the NEC sponsored Porsche. NEC’s National Sales Manager,

Mark Ratheram, commented on the trip: “This is a great way to reward the hard work of our resell- ers. Look out for more incentives from NEC coming soon.”

The three incentive winners each took along four of their staff and according to Julian Mitchell, Southern Communications, the racing was ‘amazing’. David Hughes, MD at Incom Business Systems, added: “The

close up tour of the starting grid was a highlight.” Peach Telecom’s MD, Darren

Scott-Healy, commented: “The weekend showed us the commit- ment from NEC to further devel- oping our partnership.”
