The Hall of Fame Paterson’s got the Goldeneye

Shock as Staunton reveals dirty side to mortgages

Wriglesworth PR guru James Staunton muscles his way on to the red carpet and into the Hall of Fame this month.

The HoF hears rumours that Assurant’s Kevin Pat- erson was given a Quantum of Solace while on a re- cent work trip to the States to endure a week long course on “how to win friends, be a good leader and smile about everything”. Having spent just two days with Paterson one

fellow course-taker was so blown away by Pat- erson’s slick demeanour he was quick to sing his praises.“I’d like to say I made a new friend this week,” he said while pointing to Paterson. “He’s a cross between Simon Cowell and James Bond.” “To be frank it scared The Living Daylights out of me and I could have Died Another Day,” a clearly shaken and not stirred Paterson confessed to the HoF. Despite having his cover blown, Paterson – for-

merly a Royal Marine with A Licence to Kill – de- clined to comment on whether he was On Her Maj- esty’s Secret Service while in the States. However he did admit that his motivation to take the leadership course was because The World is Not Enough and he was determined to reach the dizzy heights of power achieved by Scaramanga when he had his golden gun.

The HoF will be keeping tabs on Paterson’s path

towards world domination and progress reports will be For Your Eyes Only, loyal readers.

Tweet a load of this

Twitter is certainly making its mark on the mortgage market with industry luminaries such as Spicer’s Alison Beech (@alisonbeech), former AMI director Richard Farr (@richardfarrcouk), Private Finance’s Melanie Bien (@melaniebien), Coreco’s Andrew Montlake (@montysblog), Leadbay’s Grant Ste- phens (@grantestevens), Mortgage Introducer’s very own Nia Williams (@mortgagechat) and Robyn Hall (@robynhall) all tweeting away on a regularbasis. But the best Tweet last month by a country mile had to come from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (@RICSsurveyors) which hit the Twitter- sphere with this almighty bombshell: “Floods can cause serious damage to your property” The HoF’s all for keeping the public on its toes but talk about stating the bleeding obvious. Next thing you know RICS will be tweeting that it’s a bit Royal or that surveyors sometimes look at houses. And some- times don’t.

Just take a look at this photo of an England train- ing session and work out where the ball is.

Photocopy the page, put a cross where you think the centre of the ball is, and send it – along with your name & address – to Nia at the address on page 3. Good luck!

Congratulations to Matt Fleming-Duffy from Abacus Financial, who will shortly receive £50 of John Lewis vouchers.

Staunton (pictured left), the first and most probably last PR to be featured in the HoF, deserves this sought after accolade for completing the Hampton Court 10km fun-run last month – dressed as a mortgage and exclusively pictured on this page for the first time.

“The run started badly and got progressively worse,” Staunton ‘ fessed up to the HoF. “First, The Mortgage collapsed about as fast as the investment prospects of a new-build flat in Leeds city centre circa Spring 2008. Second, instead of running at a fixed rate, I ended up stopping repeatedly to try to fix The Mortgage, then sprinting on again. The variable rate proved inferior.”

And the pouring rain made completing the trek even more difficult. “I was weighed down by my low- grade mortgage asset in much the same as B&B was before it was swallowed by Santander,” said Staunton.

Still, in completing the gruelling trek in just 1 hour 6 minutes and raising over £300 for charidee Lifeblood, Staunton, the HoF salutes you.
