Why Logis?

Visit the Haras du Logis and you’ll feel it immediately: this is a special place. The tree-lined lanes, the sweep of the paddocks, the old Normandy stone, the distant spire. Certainly, it looks divine. And looks do not deceive. This is a very special place to breed horses! It’s smack bang in the middle of what we call the magic triangle: from

Falaise to Sées, from Sées to Lisieux. This is where you’ll find the best owner-breeders in France. There’s the Niarchos stud and the Aga Khan’s nursery (formerly Lagadere’s) near Falaise. The Wildensteins, Lady O’Reilly and Jean-Pierre Dubois are near Sées. Then there is the famous Haras du Cadran near Gacé and Sven Hanson’s Haras de Vieux Pont near Lisieux. They (and we) are here for a reason. The limestone land produces

youngstock with bone and athletic frames. Demanding winters and long, lush summers help the horses grow healthy and robust. We know this land well and use age-old husbandry and far-sighted invention to get the very best from it. When you come to visit, stoop down and grab a handful of the magic: it’s called grass.
