Background and History


Shane has spent over 25 years in the international trust and private banking industry, and whilst based in Guernsey, he has also spent periods in London, the Caribbean, Switzerland and Asia. He has worked for some of the leading private bank and trustee Coutts


institutions, including (formerly NatWest


Trust), Bank of Bermuda and MeesPierson, where he headed their international trust and planning division. Shane left MeesPierson in 2001 to found Opus Private.


For many years, Shane has specialised in managing trust activities for private individuals and charitable bodies around the world, focusing on providing a complete wealth management solution combined with personalised customer service.


Shane plays an active role in the wealth management community on the island, having previously been a pivotal figure on the STEP committee in Guernsey. During the last ten years, he has also lectured extensively on trust, jurisdictional and private wealth topics.


Professional Qualifications


In 1990, Shane gained his Trustee Diploma and an Associateship from the Institute of Financial Services in the UK (previously the Chartered Institute of Bankers). From 1993, Shane has


been a registered Trust


and Estate Practitioner, being a founder member of the globally recognised Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP).
