Over Forty Years at Being Four Decades Ahead At Xantech, in some ways it is already the middle of the 21st century.

Mark Cerasuolo, Marketing Director

When the company started in 1969, Xantech bet that the future of audio/video entertainment would depend on connecting different devices together and making them work smoothly. So the company proceeded to invent that future with the first infra-red control products and accessories—and in the process helped accelerate television’s evolution into the home theater revolution. And as revolutionary viewing technology began flooding into the home—first cable boxes, then VCRs, followed by disc players, satellite receivers, DVD players, and much more— Xantech responded by making all these diverse AV boxes play well together.

Today, Xantech is a leader in control, audio and video distribution technology. But the first responsibility of a leader is to stay ahead. That’s why in its core area of audio/video control, Xantech is reinventing IR to meet the rapid changes occurring both in A/V technology and living styles.

As Xantech’s president Graham Hallett notes, “Change is the one constant, both in our industry and our lives. Changes in entertainment systems range from flat-screen panels to all-digital TV content delivery, and now 3D is part of the mix. Changes in how we live include sweeping progress in energy efficiency and greater demands on living spaces. All this, in turn, places greater demands than ever on IR control systems. As the pioneer and leader in that field, Xantech has the special responsibility of continuously advancing the state-of-the-art. Our new series does exactly that for IR control, and sets the new standard for the rest of the industry.”

Continues Hallett, “What that means for installers working with A/V systems is this: everything they need to stay at the leading edge of IR control technology comes in a single box from Xantech. And if they ever encounter an IR problem that Xantech can’t solve, nobody can. It’s that simple”

Xantech’s new IR products are designed to meet the challenges caused by rapidly-changing technology and living styles, including:

1. Interchangeability of plasma and LCD TVs — today, many consumers are purchasing their second, third or even fourth flat-screen television. So an IR kit needs to work flawlessly with both plasma and LCD models. The new Xantech 95/red series and 85/green series work with any TV type.

2. Energy efficiency — compact fluorescent lighting (CFL) has become standard in nearly every home and business. In fact, many homes have more CFLs than incandescents. But CFLs pump out considerable amounts of light “noise” which can interfere with conventional IR systems. Xantech’s new 95/red series and 85/green series are immune to CFL interference.

3. Surge in digital entertainment delivery — more homes are connected to digital cable and satellite TV boxes than ever before. But not all of them work with standard IR repeater systems. Xantech’s new 95 and 85 kit series have advanced circuitry that ensures compatibility with any set-top box, meaning the remote will always work through the repeater system.

4. Changes in lifestyles and living spaces — homes are getting smaller and dedicated media rooms are taking a downturn, but consumers are buying more electronics than ever. Xantech’s self-contained IR kits have everything needed to hide the components quickly and effectively. They are the most cost-effective off-the-shelf system an installer can buy for configuring A/V components into tighter living spaces while maintaining total control.

Xantech isn’t just content to stop at IR technology. This year, its high-resolution iPod® dock—the first in the industry—earned top honors (platinum) as “Audio Product of the Year” from CEA in their prestigious Mark Of Excellence Awards. It was a double win; Xantech’s Digital Delivery System, which distributes high-performance digitally-amplified audio over Category-5 cabling, won “Installation Product of the Year” in the same contest. In every area of electronic entertainment technology—from Bluetooth to infra-red—Xantech continues to “future-proof” residential and commercial systems with innovations designed to make custom installation easier and more cost-effective than ever thought possible. About what you’d expect from a brand with a forty-year head start!
