Dyno-Rod tests new epoxies
U
K drainage contractor Dyno-Rod says it is the first to test the benefits of Trelleborg Epros’ latest range of ten epoxy resins for CIPP installations. Machmade, a Dyno-Rod franchise holder in
Merseyside, has a Trelleborg Epros Drain System Type 1 drum with a hotbox. The drum is used to install CIPP linings into host pipelines from DN40-
225 at a liner wall thickness of 3mm and around 30m length. Machmade became the first UK contractor to use one of Trelleborg's four new hot cure (HC) epoxy resins, the Epropox HC120.
On the projects in Liverpool,
Dyno-Rod says that the blue colour of the resin allowed site operators to easily track the progress of the impregnation process. During the post lining CCTV survey, the blue finish also gave a clear image. The pot life of the resin-impregnated liners allowed for a working time of around three hours at ambient temperatures of 10ºC, and as much as two hours at 20ºC. This ensured ample time to insert and inflate or invert the liner into place before any curing could occur.

1,350mm diameter culverts, which convey the Ballyogan Stream through the Ballyogan Landfill and Recycling Park near Dun Laoghaire in Ireland. The culverts were at a risk of structural failure due to their location and age. Insituform’s CIPP lining system was chosen to complete the works. John Beech, business development manager, commented: “These installations were not exactly ‘run-of-the-mill’ jobs. Access was tricky, particularly given the proximity of a major power substation adjacent to the site. The lining operations themselves went very well, even with the logistical challenges of getting materials and supplies to the relatively remote locations of the landfill site.”
