Holiday BAHsh
Save the date! As it is every year, the CCC’s annual Holiday BAHsh will be held on the first Thursday after Thanksgiving from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Join us on December 2, 2010 to kick off Cambridge’s holiday season. This year we move to a new location. Our hosts will be Genzyme. Keep an eye on your e-mail for more details about this not-to-be-missed event.

Electric Car
In July, you may have noticed a little electric car making its way around Cambridge, with our logo emblazoned on the sides. eCars of New England showcased one of their electric Wheegos here at the CCC. The staff took turns driving the silver bullet around town. The car cruises up to 40 m.p.h. and can run for 40 hours on a single charge.  It’s definitely a great option for city driving. Back to business with CCC committees
The CCC staff is ready for a fall season full of activity as the summer winds down and everyone gets back to business. Read on for an update on some of the CCC’s autumn committee activities.

Ambassadors
One of the CCC’s longest standing committees, the Ambassadors, will con- tinue their important work of making sure new CCC members are introduced to the Chamber and learn all that we have to offer. They also assist with cur- rent members and make sure those companies are getting what they need from the organization and remain engaged. The Ambassadors host the very popular Networking Breakfast and Business After Hours Series that provide the community with exceptional networking opportunities. In September, the committee hosts both a Networking Breakfast on the 14th and the sold-out Cruisin’ for BAHusiness. In October, they will offer another Business After Hours followed by the final 2010 breakfast on November 9 and then end the year with the always amazing Holiday BAHsh on December 2. Cambridge Young Professionals (CYP)
Our newest committee, Cambridge Young Professionals (CYP), got off to a great start this past spring with a soldout networking event, Connections & Cocktails. Are you or any of your colleagues between 21 and 35 and looking to develop your list of contacts and skills? If so, two more events are planned for the fall. On September 29, the CYPs will host a panel discussion at Microsoft’s NERD Center, “A Seat @ The Table” from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. This program will feature individuals that have achieved a high level of success while still in their twenties to provide young pros with ideas and input from their peer group on success and careers. The cost is $10 for members or $20 for non-members with registration by 9/27. $10 additional thereafter if available. The committee will also host another Connections & Cocktails event on November 4. More details will be released soon. Community Outreach
The Community Outreach Committee is focusing its efforts on the “1 in 365” campaign as part of the Cambridge Challenge. The campaign challenges the business community to step up and participate in one activity in the upcoming year that brings together their organization and the youth of Cambridge as partners. The strength of the Cambridge Challenge is in the variety of options available to businesses that have a desire to connect with the community. The range of options includes one-time career awareness activities, such as company tours and guest speakers, to much deeper commitments, such as mentoring a student or hiring a teen for a school year internship or summer job.
There will also be a “1 in 365” column in upcoming Connections newsletters (see page three). These will showcase the businesses that have met the challenge and the impact of their commitment on the community. The Challenge web site had been updated so that you can easily view the opportunities and make the connections. Government Affairs (GAC)
The City Council is back in regular session on September 13. The Council is expected to begin its bi-annual goal-setting process during the fall. November 2 is Election Day for all statewide offices, state legislators, members of the US House of Representatives and some county positions. Primary elections will be held on September 21. The Government Affairs Committee will host a meeting and luncheon with Mayor David Maher on Tuesday, September 28. A series of breakfast forums with candidates for governor are being scheduled for Friday mornings October 8, 15 and 22 at the Charles Hotel. Details will be released soon. High Tech and Science (HT&S)
The High Tech and Science Committee is continuing its C3: Cool Cambridge Companies Tour series in upcoming months with stops at Draper Laboratory and Akamai. Get an insider’s view of the innovative work being done on space systems and in biomedical engineering at Draper on November 10 and the new state-of-the-art facilities at Akamai in early 2011. The HT&S Productivity Series will focus on ways to utilize the latest technologies to increase your revenues and streamline your business. Thanks to Microsoft and Draper Laboratory for their support of the High Tech & Science Committee’s programs and events this year. Women in Business (WIB)
Another long-standing CCC committee is Women in Business (WIB). This committee promotes women entrepreneurs and professionals through various programming, including executive speaker events and networking programs. This fall the committee will host an executive speaker program in October and an evening event on December 8. Watch your e-mail for more info as it becomes available. All members are welcome to attend WIB events, men included.
