Harvey Industries Wins Ford Excellence Award Harvey Industries, Westland, Mich., announced it has
earned Ford Motor Co.’s Silver World Excellence Award for exemplary performance during 2009 as a supplier of aluminum castings. Specifically recognized was Harvey Industries’ Wabash, Ind., operations. “Ford is a valued customer,” said Harvey Industries Presi-

Newscast American Cast Iron Pipe Co. subsidiary American
Castings LLC, Pryor, Okla., has placed an order for an ATAS process control system from NovaCast USA Inc., Chicago. ATAS is a resource for controlling and monitoring the melt and treatment processes for gray and ductile iron.
The Federal Metal Company, Bedford, Ohio, has
selected Management Science Associates Inc.’s Metals and Advanced Manufacturing Division’s application service provider version of the Blending Optimiza- tion Software Suite as its raw materials blending optimization platform.
Martin Engineering, Neponset, Ill., has announced
the acquisition of Cougar Industries, Peru, Ill., a domestic manufacturer of industrial vibrators. The company plans are to retain the Cougar name and continue operations in Peru as a division of Martin Engineering.
Machining equipment provider Makino announced
it has created an R&D center focused on improving the machining of titanium at its Mason, Ohio, facility.
Washington Mills has started construction to expand
its silicon carbide furnace plant in Hennepin, Ill. The new construction is expected to be completed sometime in late 2010.
