DJ FRICTION
‘ministry Presents mixed: Drum & bass’ (ministry of sound)
While it might be its half-stepping young brother, dubstep, that’s the current fl avour du jour, the sound of drum & bass remains as strong and popular as ever, eternally attracting a twenty-something crowd with its hyper-kinetic energy.
Launching a ‘Mixed’ new series for Ministry of Sound, DJ Friction highlights this current rude state of health with a double mix of dubplate destroyers.
CD1’s ‘Strictly for the Dancefl oor’ selection rinses out the heaviest
tear-out sounds with tracks from new school noise merchants Spor and Noisia, and scene stalwarts like Zinc and Dillinja, embarking on a non-stop ride that culminates in Sub-Focus’ massive remix of Rusko’s ‘Hold On’.
Showing that it’s not all about being harder/faster, CD2 then journeys into the ‘Deeper Side of Drum & Bass’, laying out dark rollers from Alix Perez, dBridge and Rockwell, and digging out Alex Reece’s low-slung Metalheadz classic ‘Pulp Fiction’ to top a tasty selection that’ll appeal to bass heads of every persuasion.
