year. I’ve fished since I was a teenager because my boyfriend, now my husband, thought that it was a good first date. We have a boat but aſter years of watching my husband and my son go off on their kayaks without me, I finally overcame my fear of the unknown and tried it myself. Once was all it took. Tat first time catching a fish on the water level, hearing the wind whistle in the grass, being alone and in charge of my own boat, ahhh…the freedom! I think part of the attraction is being removed from every other thing we have going on in our lives. Yeah, there might be laundry, dishes, groceries and yardwork waiting for me, but out on the water, there is nothing you can do about it—no distractions. Melita Ganoe Florida via Kayak Angler contributor Kendal Larson

Too Much Rigging? Wow, I can’t believe it, but apparently I took too much time to list all the rigging on my kayak while registering on your site. Aſter list- ing everything, I received a message that I had timed out. Can you believe it? All a waste. I was not aware this was a race or competition. Well, I certainly will not Try Again Later. It is not worth the aggravation. Forget it. Ron Losinski Florida

8 … KAYAK ANGLER FALL/WINTER 2010

We’ve extended the time-out period on the site. May we suggest cutting back a bit on your rigging? Just a thought. —Eds.

Love Affair I have been kayak fishing for three years now and I love it. I have always been a small stream guy because it’s hard and feels almost pointless fishing lakes and big rivers from shore. Te downside to small streams is there is less of a chance of hooking into really big fish. Kayaks have opened up large bodies of water for me. I caught more big bass in 2009 than in all my previous years of fishing put together. Tanks for all the great info your magazine provides. Keep up the good work. Steven Blades via email

Another for the Kayak Angler

Tournament Network Tanks for the mention of the North Carolina Kayak Fishing Association. Scott MacGregor’s editorial (“Fishing the Club Scene,” Spring 2010, www.kayakanglermag.com/kayakangl- ermag_spring10) on kayak fishing clubs was spot on. You really understand the kayak fish- ing world. Starting this month we will be fish- ing once a month as a group. Mark Patterson via email

Tournament organizers can join Kayak Angler’s Tournament Network, an exclusive media spon- sorship program that provides tournament and other kayak fishing events national exposure on www.kayakanglermag.com. —Eds.

App Attack Is there going to be an iPad app for your magazine? Jody Kidd via email

Yes. Now you can experience Kayak Angler on your iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch. Te new Rapid Media App allows you to purchase each digital issue (just like this real copy, but with stunning page turning technology, links to external sites and videos) through iTunes. Read and store as many digital issues as you like within the same app. Rapid, Canoeroots and Adventure Kayak magazines are also available with this app. Find it in the Apple App Store. —Eds.
