Moment (Original Mix) Euphonic

RARELY HAS a genre attracted the kind of devotion that trance enjoys, yet for many it still remains a dirty word.

Sander Van Doorn, however, has recently been brushing aside the doubters by releasing a wave of productions that hark back to trance’s ‘90s hey-day when Sven Väth was playing legendary e-fuelled eight hour sets at the Berlin Love Parade and Carl Cox’s seminal Fact compilation ruled the stereo.

His recently released ‘Renegade’ features the classic kind of bass-driven melody that Tiga revived for his remix of LCD

Soundsystem’s ‘Tribulations’, stripping away any offensive layers of cheese in favour of something more muscularly euphoric.

Next up Sander presents Purple Haze ‘Hymn 2.0’ (out 20th July on Doorn Records). Similarly massive, it throws a choir into the mix with spine-tingling effect.

Whether it can change the minds of the haters remains to be seen. But hear it on a loud system and there’s no doubt you’ll feel your fingers almost unconsciously drawn to bathe in the lasers.
