Prolific Californian VW builder Paul Smoot has done it again, turning out yet another show stopper from the confines of his garage at home

If there’s one thing that equally inspires and upsets me, it’s someone who can build show- winning cars a lot quicker than I can. Building one would suffice. I used to convince myself that the likes of Paul Smoot have got much more time to work on cars than me, and that the cars he starts with must be complete and rust-free in the first place.
