Dimplex recognises the excellence of its heat pump installers
The excellent work of Dimplex’s approved heat pump installers has once again been recognised by the company with its third annual heat pump awards ceremony.
The awards took place during the annual Dimplex installer-partner conference and the professionals were honoured in three categories:
INSTALLER OF THE YEAR INSTALLATION OF THE YEAR (Domestic) INSTALLATION OF THE YEAR (Non-Domestic)
The Installer of the Year Award went to Shrewsbury-based Azure Natural Energy Systems, building on its success last year as joint winner of the Non-Domestic Installation of the Year category. Since then, this team that pioneers high output heat pumps for commercial and communal use, has carried out a diverse range of installations, including social housing, schools and large scale air source schemes. The company is also taking part in the Energy Saving Trust’s field trial of heat pumps.
For the second year running, Cardiff-based WDS Environmental triumphed in the Domestic Installation of the Year category, with a dramatic retrofit of air source heat pumps in a 17th century manor house in Oxfordshire. The 110kW demand was met by three LA 40 AS air source heat pumps in one of the first UK installations of these high output units. As an additional challenge the heat pumps, together with the controllers and other electrical equipment, were externally located in a wooded area some 100m from the plant room and connected to remote access controllers in the house!
The winning Non-Domestic Installation was carried out by Hertford-based Micro-Generation Systems (MGS) for a new Travelodge in Wiltshire (see article on page 4 for more details).
Dimplex expands renewables division to better support you
In a major strategic investment, Dimplex is underlining its commitment to its presence in the UK renewable sector by expanding its UK sales and marketing team, as well as announcing a multi-million pound investment in new R&D and manufacturing facilities for renewables in Northern Ireland.
Building on the success and growth of the renewables division over the past four years, a team of nine dedicated renewables sales managers will now support housing developers, installers, social housing providers, M&E consultants, local authority specifiers, building services engineers and utility companies in specifying and delivering low carbon heating and hot water solutions across the UK. The newly expanded team will provide national coverage and is split with specific responsibilities and expertise for the domestic and commercial market sectors.
To support the significant growth Dimplex expects from the UK market over the next five years, the new manufacturing and R&D facilities will focus on heat pumps, hot water storage solutions and solar, as well as new technology areas including SmartRad fan convector radiators, solar PV and the intelligent integration of multiple renewable technologies.
Chris Davis, business development director for Dimplex Renewables says: “This is a hugely exciting time for Dimplex. We recognise the need to develop not only new products, but also truly integrated solutions that are capable of really delivering the low and zero carbon buildings that will be demanded in the UK over the next 10 years. To do this requires UK-based facilities and dedicated, expert resources and this new infrastructure will put Dimplex in the strongest possible position to lead the market.”
