FOUR NEW MEMBERS were inducted into the USBC Hall of Fame on May 12 during the very first induction ceremony to be held at the International Bowling Campus, home of the International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame, in Arlington, Texas. Marshall Holman, 22-time PBA champ,
and Kim Terrell-Kearney, who owns two U.S. Women’s Open titles and was the 2002 USBC Queens champion, were inducted for Superior Performance. Betty Barnes, longtime Women’s International Bowling Congress board of directors member who was instrumen- tal in helping Reno build the National Bowling Stadium, was inducted for Meritorious Service and John Handegard, winner of 14 PBA Senior titles and three PBA Senior Player of the Year honors, was inducted in the Veterans category. “When I was 35, I was inducted into

the PBA Hall of Fame and it was a great honor but I was in the middle of my competitive career,” Holman said. “It was nice, I appreciated it. But to be removed from the game and to be honored now is so much more meaningful. I really do appreciate this day and this is something I will remember for a very long time.” Holman wasn’t the only one to get emotional,
as a teary-eyed Barnes said, “Ignore the tears, I’m known to cry at every occasion, especially when I’m happy. To be elected to the USBC Hall of Fame for Meritorious Service, for something that you have loved doing, is what you call icing on the cake.” The USBC Hall of
Fame was created in 2005 by merging the for- mer American Bowling Congress and Women’s International Bowling Congress Halls of Fame. With the four induct- ees, there are now 249 Hall of Famers in the Performance category, 111 for Meritorious Service and 19 Pioneers.
