do amazing things. I knew when I graduated, I still wanted to be a part of His work among the nations.

FOLLOWING THE CALL TO…HAWAII?

God called me to the most unlikely place on my

mental missions radar. The place millions of tourists go each year to surf and sunbathe. The last place I would’ve imagined doing missions. He sent me to Hawaii.

Currently, I’m serving as a semester missionary through the North American Mission Board doing international student ministry at the University of Hawaii.

I’ve learned that though Hawaii is considered a

paradise to most of the world, so many people here are lonely, lost and desperately in need of a Savior. I have the privilege of working with International Baptist Ministries to share Christ with the hundreds of international students we encounter day to day. Each week we have English classes, a free lunch on Thursdays, Global Café (a time of refreshments

and discussion groups), Bible studies and a church service geared toward internationals. God continues to amaze me through my missions

experience with internationals. I saw my Chinese friend’s face light up when he heard about Jesus for the fi rst time. I listened to a Korean friend who had always known about God, but never knew Him personally until she came to Hawaii. The mission fi eld is ripe, right here in North

America. I’m surrounded by people who are different from me. I don’t speak their language, I don’t have the same skin color, I don’t even eat with the same utensils. God has led me here and is allowing me to see

the nations come to know and worship Him. God is teaching me every day that He has called me to be a missionary wherever I am. OM
