Wastewater solutions

Grundfos has become a well-known name in the supply of high quality pumps for commercial building services applications heating, air conditioning and pressure boosting but have not necessarily been the first name to spring to mind when considering wastewater pump suppliers. However, in recent years Grundfos has devoted a large amount

of time and energy into developing a complete range of pumps to effectively handle a surprisingly broad range of wastewater applications. The range of pumps

available is as flexible, robust and reliable as you would expect from Grundfos – so whether you need a multi- functional wastewater pump from the new award winning SE1/SEV ranges that are ideal for submerged drainage, effluent and sewage applications or you need a broad range of portable KP/AP and DP drainage pumps, or EF pumps suitable for a range of wastewater applications with small fibres, check Grundfos out. But the product range doesn’t end there as also available is a wide

range of cutting edge grinders from their SEG family and the Multilift family - a compact all-in-one range of lifting stations. In fact whatever you need up to 500kW Grundfos has the solution for you.

Biddle add radiant panels

Biddle has responded to customer comments and extended their product offering to include high quality radiant panels. The range comprises four

different styles of radiant panel, each being suitable for specific applications and building types. All offer innovation in design, output and efficiency, as well as being lightweight and easy to install. Heatwave flat panels designed to fit within a typical ‘T’ bar false

ceiling are particularly suited to offices and school classrooms, whereas Heatwave Plus is a linear flat panel often used in hospitals or sports halls with ceilings as high as 10m. For applications with high ceilings, where high output is necessary, the profiled surface and part exposed tubes of Heatwave Eco offer an innovative solution, and for the latest in radiant panel design technology the angled edges to the panel sides of the Heatwave Eco Plus provide an additional 15% energy savings and 81% radiant output. All Biddle radiant panels have been tested and accredited in accordance with the latest European standard EN 14037 72:2003, and the accuracy of the performance and construction quality independently verified.

and

manufacture a comprehensive range of passive infra-red occupancy switches for automatic lighting control. The products are easy to install, using the existing wiring in a building. Danlers passive infra-red occupancy switches bring the load on only when a person is present, thus saving on energy bills. Each model in the range includes an adjustable photocell override, adjustable time lag before switch off and a relay for switching up to 6 amps (1500W) of load, including fluorescent lighting. They are ideal for energy saving in offices, factories, warehouses, schools, hospitals, accommodation blocks and so on.

Hassle free comfort

The latest development in a long line of air curtains from Biddle, Invisidor DOORFLOW, has been developed to be not just of a minimalist design but also to minimise maintenance, bring a continuous and consistent long lasting level of performance and maximising energy savings. Air curtains are acknowledged to enhance comfort conditions in

the entrance environment. However with routine maintenance procedures, such as cleaning filters, a drop-off in performance is often ignored and an increase in noise all too often results. With this in mind the Invisidor DOORFLOW has been carefully

developed to minimise maintenance. A purpose designed coil/heater battery reduces the build-up of dust and debris between the coil fins to such an extent that filters are no longer necessary. Having no filters means the Invisidor DOORFLOW doesn’t just offer minimal maintenance but also provides a continuous and consistent long lasting level of performance. Available in a variety of

Samsung joins the

fight

With the swine flu outbreak still fresh in many people’s memory, Samsung has announced another powerful weapon against viruses like H1N1 - air conditioning. The Micro Plasma Ion (MPI) active air purification technology in Samsung’s top performing indoor units has emerged from tough scientific tests which confirm that it neutralises H1N1 as well as a wide range of other biological contaminants. MPI technology (which already has the British Allergy Foundation’s Seal of Approval) is part of the five step air purifying system built into Samsung’s stylish Vivace, Mont Blanc and Crystal wall mounted indoor units, all available across the range from residential to DVM (VRF) systems. Scientists at Korea’s Yonsei University tested MPI in Vivace,

Mont Blanc and Crystal units and found 99.9% effectiveness against H1N1. The latest research endorses earlier findings at Yonsei University and the Environmental Science Centre in Japan that MPI is 99.6% effective against Type A influenza virus. MPI is also highly effective against the SARS virus, MRSA, moulds and bacteria, and various allergens including house dust mites. MPI technology generates active hydrogen and oxygen ions

which simply combine with harmful substances, turning it into harmless water.

Simplicity and flexibility

are key

The new Medem Services and Environmental Control (SEC) range offers the flexibility of single or multi-function solutions, including demand controlled ventilation and CO2 monitoring, gas detection, gas pressure proving and fan interlocking. The SEC range is extremely simple to use and easy to install, featuring an LCD screen displaying the status and instructions to the end-user. Features can be tailored to the specifier’s requirements for, but

not limited to, commercial kitchens, laboratories and boiler rooms to enable energy and cost savings. Medem’s industry leading five year guarantee is a demonstration of the company’s confidence in the quality and design of their products. The new SEC range is available from April 2010. Medem Managing Director Chris Dearden, said: “The SEC range

Breakthrough wireless

technology

Set to deliver significant reductions on project installation costs for building controls, Sontay, is launching its widely anticipated range of wireless sensors. With operation based

on the latest 2.4 GHz licence free radio technology, the SonNet range of temperature and humidity sensors eliminates the need for structural wiring installation, greatly reducing commissioning and installation activity and making for a much more efficient retro-fit. A comprehensive SonNet range will be available, catering for

space, immersion, duct and outside air monitoring. Ensuring robust communication paths are maintained, the sensors can be paired with a range of wireless routers to boost any areas of low signal strength. Operationally, the SonNet radio receiver converts transmitted

data from the sensors to analogue outputs (compatible with most control systems). The receiver is available with 20 channels, as standard, and up to 40, with the addition of an optional 20 way Daughter Board. For maximum reliability, operation and battery life, the sensors run a self healing tree application. With a battery life of up to five years the units offer robust fit and

forget communications with lower installed project costs and enhanced site flexibility.

and all our systems are designed and built at our own factory using the latest building and assembly technology. It’s our opinion that providing the right back-up and advice is as important as the product itself, so we operate a 24-hour support line for end users, installers and maintenance engineers.”

Lochinvar launches EcoShield

Lochinvar has announced the launch of its new EcoShield range of high efficiency gas fired condensing water heaters. There are five EcoShield models available

offering recovery rates from 709 up to 2,436 litres per hour based upon a 50°C temperature rise. The largest model has a storage capacity of 435 litres and with an hourly recovery rate of 2,436 litres per hour, is believed to be the highest output gas-fired water heater available in the UK. High in efficiency and with low fuel consumption and carbon emissions, EcoShield offers a number of advantages for the specifier and heating engineer. EcoShield’s 316l stainless steel heat multi-

pass exchanger is robust and durable in design and provides high resistance to corrosion. Key benefits include 5:1 burner modulation, hand-hole cleanout opening for servicing and a wide range of flue options. The integral controls include a two line, 16 character display, runtime and alarm contacts and the ability to control integral and system pumps. David Pepper, Managing Director for Lochinvar, said: “The arrival

of EcoShield to our family of water heaters provides even further choice for our customers.”
