second Wave of artists

Dance legends set to play Glade for festival’s seventh year

Just when you felt utterly spoilt to have Orbital, Simian Mobile Disco and Tricky as the first wave of headliners at this year’s Glade festival, Creative Director Nick Ladd goes and pulls a whole shit load of other treats out the bag. Joining the three previously announced acts at Matterley Bowl from Thursday 15th – Sunday 18th July will be techno legend Jeff Mills, DFA’s Holy Ghost!, Seth Troxler, Fuck Buttons, Green Velvet, Plastician, Magnetic Man, Autechre, Boy Better Know and more.

The legendary Detroit techno DJ Jeff Mills played a major part in laying the foundations for respected music collective Underground Resistance. Under the pseudonym “The Wizard”, Mills was famed for his beat juggling and scratching over new wave, Detroit techno, Miami

bass and Chicago house on Detroit radio station WJLB in the 1980s. His last album ‘Sleeper Wakes’, a musically conceptual project, was released last year

Joining Mills will be unconventional house hero Green Velvet who makes his Glade debut. The casual clubber will know him as the neon-haired techno punk who warned us of the dangers of out of control teenage parties (‘Flash’), taking too many pills (‘La La Land’) and choosing a bad day to check your voicemail (‘Answer Machine’), but his contribution to dance music goes much deeper than a few comically off-kilter rants…
