OD’S WILL—it often appears so mysterious and hard to find. The proverbial “needle in a haystack” describes some individuals’ seem-
ingly fruitless, frustrating search for God’s direction in key areas of life. In despera- tion the person may plead, “Lord, send me Your will in black and white. Send a text message, an email, or a fax! It would really simplify things for me!” Wait a minute! Much of God’s will for us as individuals isn’t hidden and hard to discover. It is already in black and white. Or, if you use a red-letter edition of the Scriptures, it’s in three colors. Far too often what has been revealed for us is

overlooked in the quest for a more exotic spiritual experience. This failure to start with the basics contributes to unnecessary confusion and prolonged searching.
It Is God’s Will for Us to Be Saved
Through the conviction of the Holy Spirit we receive the divine summons to salvation. We are invited to cross the gulf of sin through the bridge of Christ’s blood and experience spiritual transfor- mation. His will is for us to be sons and daughters living in relationship with our heavenly Father.
This fulfillment of God’s will in our lives should be a continual source of assurance and elation. It stands as an ongoing statement of God’s love and sac- rifice through Jesus Christ. But it doesn’t stop there. God’s will is for us to be open to His continued working in our lives (Philippians 2:13).
It is this continuance which may be overlooked at best and neglected at worst. Experiencing initial salvation provides the first step which then must be followed with ongoing maturity. God desires us to grow in
