April 3 • 10:00am-Noon
Learn how to use map and compass. This workshop will be both
discussion and demonstration of how to read a map and plot
a course on a map using a baseplate compass, understanding
magnetic declination and how to correct for it. Following the
discussion participants will be able to practice what they
learned. This is an excellent clinic for Scouts. There is no fee for
this workshop and all ages are welcome to attend.
Food, stoves, & WAteR FILteR deMo dAY
April 17 • 10:00am-Noon
This demo will be geared towards the beginning backpacker/
traveler to show you the different options of food, stoves and
water filters for any adventure. This interactive workshop will
give you the opportunity to sample meals from Mountain House.
There is no fee for this workshop and no RSVP is needed. For

Learn ways to get the most comfort out of your pack. We
will explore the proper way to load your pack for the best
performance and comfort and the differences in pack design
(internal frame vs. external frame). We are all looking forward
to a good time on the trail, so let’s make sure your pack will not
distract you. Bring your pack for our staff to check fit and make
suggestions.

Join us for this informational workshop that will discuss the features and
benefits of trekking poles, plus the history and technology of trekking
poles. Trekking poles add balance and stability to any trek, from walking
around the block to hiking up a mountain. No RSVP needed for this clinic
and Scouts are welcome.

May 8 • 2:00-4:00pm
Join us in the Backwoods parking lot as we display our entire tent
selection. We will have each model pitched and available to crawl inside
and examine. Backwoods staff will be on hand to explain the differences
between each tent and answer all your questions. There is no fee for this
event and no RSVP needed.
