The reality is that there are many sound financial reasons why
companies should hire instead of purchase.

Hiring releases capital for other purposes and improves cash
flow. Depreciating assets are removed from the balance sheet
meaning an end to dreaded obsolescence. Additionally,
monthly hire costs are flexible and fully tax deductible.
Budget costs can be fixed and include service and
maintenance costs. This enables better forward planning and a
contingency fall back in case the worst happens. We have all
heard stories of contractors left with a warehouse full of
equipment when a contract ends. Often the residual value of
such equipment is way below the outstanding finance
commitment on the stock.
There are commercial advantages too. When equipment is
purchased a contractor is often faced with a ‘make do and
mend’ scenario. They own an aging piece of equipment - it is
not the latest model and not ideal for the task. Replacing it,
