book. Which is exactly what we did for our Kids’ Spring project.. We went
straight to the design experts...our children..
Our Easter chicken was an original drawing by six-year-old Caoimhe.
Simply provide grid paper and ask for colour drawings for every season
Artists,
and before you know it, you can have design makings for a quilt that
captures your entire year.

Calculating materials to size is
good math practice for children
and may be done with child-
friendly scissors.
Cut 4 4½“ background squares
Use the manufacturer’s instruc-
tions for fusible web. Trace the
shape of the egg and chick onto
the fusible web. Cut out each
shapes making sure to allow at
least ¼” around each one. Iron
the shapes to the reverse side of
the corresponding fabrics. Cut
out all the pieces directly on the
traced line.
